How to color blindness simulator

Color-vision deficiency simulations can highlight low-distinction palettes before a design ships. The categories are protan, deutan and tritan families, with partial severity approximations. Models approximate perception rather than reproduce any individual viewer’s exact experience, and WCAG contrast ratio remains a separate measurement.

  1. Upload a UI screenshot, infographic or visual asset.
  2. Choose a deficiency family and severity; compare original and simulated output.
  3. Download the simulation or a three-mode comparison sheet and evaluate important visual cues.

Accuracy, privacy and limitations

Matrix-based simulations are approximations, not clinical diagnostics. Do not rely only on hue to communicate critical information.

Practical advice for a cleaner result

Always keep a copy of your source files. Compare the new image at 100% zoom, test it in the application where it will be used, and make one change at a time when a result looks unexpected. Browser memory limits depend on device and image dimensions.

color blindness simulator FAQ

Can a simulation show exactly what somebody sees?+

No. Individual color vision varies.

Does this test WCAG compliance?+

No. It offers a visual preview; text contrast and interaction still require separate evaluation.

Can I download every simulation?+

Yes. Generate a comparison image with the three primary modes.
